POSITION SUMMARY
NRDC India is hiring for the position of Lead - Clean Transportation who will play an active role in advancing our work in electric mobility domain in India. The incumbent will engage in comprehensive research, data analysis, and collaboration with experts to support evidence-based decision-making and policy formulation that promotes sustainable and clean mobility solutions.
Key responsibilities include active partner coordination, stakeholder engagement, advocacy and project management. The position would primarily work on the electric vehicles and clean energy element of the program’s work. The position would also provide research and analysis on the other core elements of the India program, including expanding renewable energy, energy efficiency, cooling, energy access, air pollution and climate resilience. This role will also play a critical part in shaping the future of mobility in India, contributing to climate goals and enhancing urban sustainability through effective electric vehicle initiatives.

- Lead on the ground work on developing and implementing strategies to advance electric mobility, including project management, stakeholder roundtables, policy development, technical research, analysis, and writing.
- Conduct in-depth research on various aspects of clean transportation including technology trends, market dynamics, policy frameworks, infrastructure requirements, and socio-economic impacts of electric mobility.
- Collaborate with the larger team to work across NRDC’s clean transportation initiatives on passenger & freight electrification, Battery circularity, EV charging infrastructure, ZEV financing
- Prepare clear and concise research reports, policy briefs, white papers, and presentations summarizing research findings and policy recommendations.
- Engage with industry stakeholders, academia, government officials, academia, peer research organizations, think tanks, financiers and other stakeholders to support evidence-based policy formulation on electric mobility within the broader sustainable-transportation ecosystem.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, partners to ensure project milestones are met in a time bound manner
- Media, business, and government outreach
- Work with internal & external stakeholders on effective dissemination & outreach strategies
- Lead team activities including project implementation, planning and work area expansion strategies
- Participate in workshops, conferences, and seminars to present research findings and contribute to discussions on electric mobility.
- Stay updated with the latest developments in electric mobility, technological advancements, and policy changes, both nationally and internationally.

REQUIREMENTS Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study such as energy systems, transportation engineering, engineering, environmental studies, public policy, economics, energy, or other related fields. Master’s Degree preferred.
- 5-8 years of related experience of working on electric mobility & broader clean transportation areas
- Experience in policies and programs related to vehicle and fleet electrification, EV charging infrastructure, electric vehicle education and outreach programs, vehicle incentive programs, dealer engagement, EV market transformations or other policy work in India.

- Ability to prioritize and efficiently execute many tasks, follow institutional procedures, and work independently with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and shifting requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), in addition to knowledge of or ability to learn relevant industry and NRDC specific software and platforms.
- Experience being part of large, cross-sector, multi-partner initiatives a plus
- Passion for sustainable transportation and a keen interest in contributing to policy development.
- Competence with and commitment to diversity and inclusion; ability to be an effective partner with diverse colleagues, leaders and partners.
- Ability to occasionally travel approximately 30-40% annually
